who is the bagre-do-manguezal
The bagre-do-manguezal is an ariid catfish endemic to Colombia, on the Pacific coast, and reaches 19.5 cm. Like the other catfish of the family, it has strong spines on the dorsal and pectoral fins that injure, so handling requires care. The popular name refers to mangroves.

identification
Small, elongated catfish, with three pairs of barbels and rigid spines. The dorsal spine is shorter than the pectoral spine, and the back edge of the pectoral spine has short serrations. Unlike Cathorops dasycephalus, which also lives in the Pacific, it has no tooth plates on the roof of the mouth. Unlike the bagre-colombiano, which also occurs in Venezuela, this species is found only in Colombia, on the Pacific coast.
