who is the bagre-salvadorenho
The Salvadoran catfish is a catfish of the family Ariidae and reaches 28.3 cm. Known only from El Salvador, it lives in fresh water, near the bottom, and little is known about the species. Like the other catfishes of the family, it has spines on the dorsal and pectoral fins that can cause injuries. It is commercially fished and is not a target of sport fishing. The Cathorops catfishes look alike, so the capture location is the main guide.
Essential profile. Identification, where it occurs and rules, with data from FishBase and the cited regulations. Season, time of day, technique and bait are added once we have a good source for the bagre-salvadorenho.
identification
Elongated catfish, without scales, with three pairs of barbels around the mouth, like all ariids. Because it is recorded only from El Salvador and little has been published about it, recognition depends on the combination: a freshwater catfish, without scales, with spines on the dorsal and pectoral fins, and a maximum size of 28.3 cm. Before identifying it, confirm the capture region.
