identification
Gurnard with a head armored with bony plates and broad pectoral fins, with free rays for walking on the bottom. Its common name, bristly, points to a rough-looking body. Its common size of 35 cm is larger than that of the whitesnout gurnard, which reaches 20.5 cm, and this is the feature that best helps tell them apart.
