overview

who is the piau-do-chimoré

The Chimoré piau is a freshwater anostomid of the headstander family (piaus and aracus), reaching 10.5 cm, a small size for the group. It lives between the bottom and the midwater, in rivers of Bolivia, such as the Chimoré in Cochabamba, and of Ecuador. Pairs breed in areas with very dense plants. Like other piaus, it is omnivorous. It has commercial fishing. Because of its small size, it is hardly ever caught on the line in recreational fishing.

Essential profile. Identification, where it occurs and rules, with data from FishBase and the cited regulations. Season, time of day, technique and bait are added once we have a good source for the piau-do-chimoré.
