identification

Elongated body of normal shape, with long dorsal and anal fins. It has photophores, light-producing organs on the skin, in a pattern that helps separate it from similar species. By its teeth, it differs from Pseudoscopelus paxtoni: the innermost teeth at the front of the upper jaw are not very long and, with the mouth closed, do not reach the opposite side, and the teeth in the inner rows are slightly curved.
