A fish of the family Rivulidae, a group of annual killifishes, freshwater and small. Reaches 16 cm. Spawning happens on the bottom, and the eggs take five to seven months to hatch. It is easy to keep in an aquarium, which is why it is used in the aquarium trade. It is not a sport fish.

It has no spines or dangerous teeth for anglers. Because it is very small, return it to the water carefully, keeping it wet.
