how to recognize it

identification

Small, elongated fish of the family Lebiasinidae, reaching 15 cm. The name refers to the many reddish spots arranged in rows over the scales. It can be confused with Lebiasina astrigata, which also occurs in southern Colombia, west of the Andes, but has larger, round spots on the flank. The region, southwestern Colombia, helps identify the species.
