overview

who is the parassi mullet

Mullet of the family Mugilidae, with a fusiform body, living mostly in estuaries and brackish waters, but also entering the sea and hypersaline waters. It reaches 40 cm. To spawn, adults gather in small groups at the mouths of rivers and coastal streams early in the year. The female lays millions of large, yolk-rich eggs that are pelagic. Juveniles travel long distances up swamps and coastal rivers in search of food and shelter. It has little commercial use, is sold fresh or salted, and salted dried roe is considered a delicacy.

Essential profile. Identification, where it occurs and rules, with data from FishBase and the cited regulations. Season, time of day, technique and bait are added once we have a good source for the parassi mullet; in the meantime, see the similar species.
