Reservoir on the Corumbá River between Brasília and Goiânia, with arms of flooded cerrado and peacock bass. It has already hosted stops of the Goiás Sport Fishing Circuit.
The Corumbá IV hydroelectric plant, inaugurated in 2006, dammed the Corumbá River and formed a lake of about 170 km² between Luziânia, Alexânia, Abadiânia and other municipalities around the Federal District. The flooded cerrado left paliteiros and submerged timber where peacock bass hide; trahira patrol the shores and tilapia sustain bank fishing. Alexânia and Luziânia have already hosted stops of the Goiás Sport Fishing Circuit, and the lake holds kayak tournaments. Close to Brasília, it gets many boats and jet skis on weekends, and fishing pressure is high: the best days are weekdays.
best season
April to October, in the dry season; with the cold winter water, peacock bass do better in the warmer months. During the spawning closure (Nov 1 to Feb 28), only catch and release in the reservoir.
Local rules: In Goiás, a state license is required, and a zero transport limit applies for 4 years from May 28, 2026 (IN Semad 17/2026): native fish may be kept only for eating on site, up to 5 kg per angler and within the size limits; threatened species may not be caught, and chumming with feed or cracked corn is banned. During the spawning closure (Nov 1 to Feb 28), Goiás allows sport fishing only in reservoirs, catch and release with barbless hooks, and the federal rule for the Paraná basin limits fishing in reservoirs to non-native species and bans fishing within 1,500 m of the dam (IN Ibama 25/2009). Check local rules.

- Alexânia is on the BR-060 highway, between Anápolis and Brasília, about 90 km from Brasília. The lake can also be reached through Abadiânia and Luziânia.

Kayak or rowboat in sheltered, quiet coves with submerged timber does better than bank fishing. Avoid holidays and look for the warmest water during sunny hours.
