identification
Spindle-shaped rockfish with spines on the head and fins, a common trait of the genus. The common name links the species to green spots on the body. Soft bottom between 49 and 201 m is the best clue to tell it apart from the spotted rockfish, which lives on rocky bottom. Because the depths overlap, bottom type helps most.

We found no species-specific rule beyond the region's general rules.
catch and release
catch and release Releasing the fish alive, quickly and with a wet hand. During a closed season it isn't always allowed: what the regulation says applies.
It is not venomous, but it has strong spines. As it lives at depth, it suffers barotrauma if reeled up quickly; release it carefully.
how much it weighs without taking it out of the water
Length-weight relationship W = a·Lb (a = 0.01, b = 3.09; FishBase (relação peso-comprimento bayesiana, estimativa pelo gênero e formato do corpo)). It's an average: a fat or lean fish can vary by 10% to 20%.
