Bombinhas occupies a peninsula on the north-central coast of Santa Catarina, with small beaches separated by stone shores and generally clear water; the town is known for diving. From the rocks, casting targets bluefish outside the closed season and xerelete, and bottom fishing near the holes yields sargo and grouper, which may only be kept within the 47 to 73 cm window. Offshore, the Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve protects the islands and the sea around them, and fishing is banned there.

From autumn to spring, outside the bluefish closed season (Dec 1 to Mar 31). Grouper is under closed season from Nov 1 to Feb 28.

Local rules: Arvoredo Marine Biological Reserve (ICMBio, full protection): fishing banned inside the reserve. Grouper: closed season Nov 1 to Feb 28 and, outside it, only fish of 47 to 73 cm (Portaria Interministerial SG-PR/MMA 41/2018). Bluefish under closed season on the southern coast from Dec 1 to Mar 31 (INI MPA/MMA 2/2009), with a minimum of 35 cm (IN MMA 53/2005). Wet rocks and heavy surf: never fish alone. Check local rules.
