Furnas is a huge lake on the Rio Grande, with arms reaching dozens of municipalities. In Capitólio the landscape has canyons, waterfalls and cliffs. It's lake fishing: peacock bass in the logs and points, trahira in shallow coves with brush, croaker in the channels and tilapia in numbers. Piau and curimbatá show up on bottom bait. The lake level varies a lot with power generation and changes the fishing spots from year to year.

Hot season, October to March. During the spawning closure (piracema, Nov 1 to Feb 28) only exotic and hybrid species, with a reduced bag limit.
