Jupiá Lake and the current below the dam, with peacock bass in the arms and surubim and jaú in the river.

Três Lagoas is on the Mato Grosso do Sul bank of the Paraná River, next to the Jupiá plant. Above the dam, the lake has arms, rocky points and logs with peacock bass and croaker. Below, the water runs hard and draws surubim, jaú, dorado and piapara. The Sucuriú River, a tributary that enters the lake, has good peacock bass fishing. Casting in the arms and heavy bottom fishing in the current. Medium-city infrastructure, with easy access.

March to May and September to October, outside the spawning closure. Peacock bass produce more in the warm months.

Local rules: The Paraná River channel follows the federal rule: spawning closure (piracema) Nov 1 to Feb 28 (IN Ibama 25/2009): in reservoirs, recreational fishing is restricted and applies to non-native species, such as peacock bass and croaker. Tributaries in Mato Grosso do Sul follow MS rules, which ban dorado catch. The dam's safety zone is off-limits. Check local rules.

getting there: Três Lagoas airport. By land, BR-262 from Campo Grande or from the interior of São Paulo.
