parque maeda — itu

Leisure complex in Itu with three sport fishing areas in ponds, all catch and release, from the beginner pond to the Tancão of over 50,000 m².

Parque Maeda is a leisure complex in the rural area of Itu, with gardens, a water park, an inn and a restaurant, and it divides fishing into three areas: the park ponds, the Tancão and the Fattening Ponds. According to the official website, all are exclusively for sport fishing, on a catch-and-release basis. The Tancão is the largest area, with over 50,000 m² of water surface and the heaviest fish; the park ponds are suited to beginners and are the only ones with night fishing. A June 2022 report cited tilapia, carp, pacu, dorado and cachara, among other species, with fish up to 40 kg. In February 2025, the park announced an introductory session with an instructor on weekends at pond 4, where lambaris and tilapias are fished with bamboo rods.

Local rules: House rule: all areas are catch and release; use the provided landing net and mat and release the fish quickly. Never take fish from the fishery to release into a river, lake or reservoir: introducing an animal outside its natural range without a favorable technical opinion and license is an environmental offense, with fines from R$2,000 plus R$200 per fish (Decreto federal 6.514/2008, art. 25).
