matsumura fishery — são paulo

Fishery opened in 1993 at the southern tip of the São Paulo capital, with six lakes in two units, tambacus over 38 kg and pirararas over 25 kg, according to the venue.

Matsumura is in Colônia, in the Parelheiros area, at the southern tip of the city of São Paulo, and opened in April 1993. It has six sport fishing lakes in two units: unit 1, with two lakes, and unit 2, with four. The website lists more than 15 species, including tilapia, carp, piau, piraputanga, matrinxã, catfish, trahira, cachara, dorado, tambacu and pacu, plus tambacus over 38 kg and pirararas over 25 kg; the lakes are stocked with tilapia every week. The house asks that large fish be released; anyone who wants to take fish home pays by weight, per the fishery's weight table. A June 2022 report included Matsumura in a selection of ten fisheries in the country, and the official profile was still active in October 2026.

Open every day, 7am to 6pm, according to the fishery. Tambacu and pirarara feed more in the heat; in winter, tilapia bites best in the warmest hours.

Local rules: House rules: remove or flatten the barb of the hook; no chumming or baiting with chicken skin, bologna, suet or ground meat, and no groundbait from elsewhere; no scale grips (alicate balança) or fish grabbers (pega-peixe); don't hold the fish by the gills, don't let it thrash on the ground, and take photos kneeling, with the fish close to the ground. Anyone who drops a fish while holding it upright must take it and pay the house price. Never take fish from the fishery to release into a river, lake or reservoir: introducing an animal outside its natural range without technical opinion and license is an environmental offense, with fines from R$2,000 plus R$200 per fish (Decreto federal 6.514/2008, art. 25). Fishing license: confirm with the fishery and the state environmental agency whether it is required to fish there. Check local rules.
