Lake on the Parnaíba River, on the Piauí–Maranhão border. Peacock bass and Piauí croaker at home.

The Boa Esperança dam impounds the Parnaíba River between Guadalupe, in Piauí, and Maranhão. The lake has arms, islands, flat-topped hills in the background and dead-tree stands. It's the home of the Piauí croaker, native to the basin, fished with jigs and natural bait in the channels. Peacock bass occupy the logs and points, trahira the shallow coves. Below the dam, the Parnaíba runs with leather and scaled fish. A regional destination, little explored by sport fishing and with low pressure.
