tips
- Rocky shore fishing is the most dangerous on the coast: watch the wave sets for 15 minutes before going down, and never turn your back to the sea.
- Never fish alone and agree on an escape point up the shore.
- The dusky grouper is a threatened species with its own rules; goliath grouper is prohibited. When in doubt, release.
- Toothed sargo eats crab and barnacles on the rock: use a small, strong hook.
- Grouper and badejo live on the rocky shore but are on the national list of threatened species: if you hook one, release it carefully and quickly.
