jurumirim reservoir — avaré
The first big reservoir on the Paranapanema, with long arms and clean water. Peacock bass, croaker and trahira.
Jurumirim is the first hydroelectric dam on the Paranapanema River and forms a large, indented lake between Avaré, Itaí, Paranapanema and Cerqueira César, with arms reaching up the Paranapanema and Taquari rivers. The water is usually clearer than in other São Paulo reservoirs, and fishing is varied: peacock bass at points and submerged timber, croaker in the channels, trahira in shallow coves, curimbatá, piau and mandi at chum, tilapia everywhere. Many weekend cabins and condos line the shores.
