laguna and florianópolis — mullet and snook
Mullet run in autumn and snook in the lagoons and bays in summer. Cooperative fishing with dolphins in Laguna.
Laguna sits at the mouth of the Santo Antônio, Imaruí and Mirim lagoon complex. On the jetties, dolphins and cast-net fishers catch mullet together, a rare tradition. Mullet run from May to July and moves the whole Santa Catarina coast. In summer, snook dominates the lagoons, channels and rocks. In Florianópolis, the North and South bays have snook and croaker, and open-sea beaches yield bluefish, pompano and betara. Beach, jetty and boat fishing.
