tramandaí — northern coast of rio grande do sul

Surfcasting beaches and the Tramandaí lagoon inlet. Bluefish, croaker and papa-terra close to Porto Alegre.

Tramandaí is the gateway to the northern coast of Rio Grande do Sul. The open-ocean beach is the main fishing: surfcasting for papa-terra, pompano and croaker, and bluefish runs in autumn and spring. The inlet that links the lagoon to the sea holds mullet and is the stage for cooperative fishing between dolphins and fishers. The offshore fishing platforms on the northern coast, when open, take the angler beyond the surf. It is a weekend trip for anyone living in Porto Alegre.
